19 September 2018

There are a variety of options for solo travellers to meet travelling buddies, either before they leave or during their travels. Sometimes travelling alone can be daunting so it is nice to be sure that you will meet up with like-minded people.

Trip Giraffe
On Trip Giraffe, you can create a post that says:
-          Where you’re planning on travelling to
-          When you want to go
-          Your budget
-          The preferences of your travel buddy (i.e. gender, age, whether you want to share a room)
-          What type of journey you want to take

You can also search to see if there is anybody who is already embarking on a similar trip to yours.

Alternatively, you can use social media groups; if you type in ‘backpackers’ or ‘gap years’, there are a number of groups that come up on Facebook and you can post in those to find out if anyone is interested in joining you during your travels.

However, if you are travelling alone and haven’t been able to find someone to meet up with, you don’t need to worry! You could meet new people in your accommodation, during excursions or experience days, or even at cafes and restaurants; the possibilities for friendship are endless.
