Volunteer and teach in Romania...

An undiscovered land of beautiful mountains, medieval towns and hospitable people.

Romania is one of those countries that everybody has heard of but nobody knows much about, it is one of the poorest countries in Eastern Europe and was one of the more ardent supporters of the old Soviet empire until it's Dictator; Nicolae Ceausescu, was deposed in a coup by the people in 1989; because of the severity of his regime the Romanian people suffered greatly under him; the infrastructure of the country was also eroded by communist corruption and greed to the point that by the time the people rose up there was not much left to save.

Despite this Romania is one of the last discovered treasures of Europe; the beautiful rural areas with their haystacks and horse and carts, the sumptuous medieval and Saxon towns and villages and the architecturally stunning capital, Bucharest, with it's impressive, gaunt soviet edifices sitting side by side with the fragile beauty of it's numerous cathedrals make Romania a fascinating country to discover.
