Work Experience Spain
If you want to improve your Spanish by getting work experience on the Costa del Sol, then Work Experience Spain is the right programme for you!

Spend your summer (or even one year!) working in one of the most popular resorts in Spain! The positions available will be mainly in hotels, restaurants, bars, amusement parks and shops. Wages will depend on the type of employment, but the minimum wage is guaranteed to self-finance your stay. In the summertime you can expect to work 40 hours per week. The average salary is about €1000.

By taking part in the Work Experience Spain programme you will share your accommodation with other international participants.

If you think your Spanish is not good enough, we can even help you with language courses for 1, 2 or 4 weeks. Contact us to find out more!

Eligibility Requirements

In order to apply to the programme you will need to:

  • Be aged between 18 and 26 years old
  • Have an intermediate level of Spanish
  • Be a EU citizen
Work Placements Available

Work Experience Spain is a cultural work placement, offering employment in fields such as hospitality, catering, retail, tele marketing and other general service categories along the Costa del Sol, in Marbella and Puerto Banus.

Some of the positions on offer include: bartender, waiter, kitchen assistant, waiter’s assistant, hostess, and retail store or amusement park attendant. Depending on your past experience you will be placed accordingly in a position that is best thought to suit you.

Interview process: Normally within 48 hours of your arrival in Spain you will have interviews set up for you, so you should expect your first week stay to be taken up with interview. If you are successful you should expect to start your placement the week after.

Working hours/ Wages: Participants will generally be required to work 8 hours per day with 1 day off during the week. However, some jobs during the high season (July and August) may not permit you to have a day off during the week as it will be very busy. Participants will always be paid at least the minimum wage however most jobs pay more than this and on average paying participants 800 Euros to 1,100 Euros net each month. Depending on the type of job you are given, you may also receive tips, or free meals from your company.

Spanish language skills: This is a great opportunity to develop your Spanish and you must ensure you use it at every opportunity as English is very prominent on the Costa del Sol and you may find yourself speaking in English as it is easier for you, but try and remember why you are there and use this experience to your advantage. Although an intermediate level of Spanish is normally required, during the summer months, applicants with a basic level will be considered.

Please note that as a work experience participant in Spain you will be expected to be open-minded, positive thinking, enthusiastic and motivated. Participants must have the ability to live independently in a foreign country, must be open to, and show respect for, different cultures to their own, and must be committed to improving your Spanish language skills.

Once participants accept a job, they are bound to the contract for the time agreed. Only certain circumstances will be considered if an applicant wishes to withdraw from the programme before the end of the contract. In cases of participants simply not enjoying the job this will not be a valid reason for leaving.
