Develop personal and career goals

Our Canadian Internship Programme offers a unique way in which to develop personal and career goals through work experience in most vocational areas of study. The programme aims to provide a means of improving practical skills in a professional environment, enhance employment opportunities within an increasingly competitive employment market and increase awareness of international business and practical work experience. We organise placements which match the career and professional objectives of all our trainees. Placements range from 3 months to 12 months, the longer the placement the more beneficial the work experience and knowledge gained.

Duration: 3 -12 months

Start date: 4 weeks notice prior to departure

Location of Internships: All internships take place in Vancouver or Whistler

Participant Eligibility: This programme is open to participants from the United Kingdom, Austria, Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland

Visa Required: Young Workers Exchange Programme Work Permit, a work permit is required even though the placements are not paid.

Minimum Age: 20 years

Placements available include:

  • We will endeavour to match all career objectives which include placements in the following areas;

  • One year’s membership in the International Club, which gives members access to discounts on services,
  • tours and attractions in Vancouver and provides access to assistance from the Programme coordinator any
  • time in the year, during normal business hours.
  • Social activities in Vancouver and Whistler ranging from pub nights to ski trips.

Accommodation & Food

Accommodation can be organised in a Youth Hostel on a bed and breakfast basis in a multi room or in selected Canadian host families on a full board basis, single room.

Flights & Transportation
  • International flights are not included.
  • Please arrive at Vancouver International airport.

  • All of Twin’s placements are in partnership with recognized Charities, Non Governmental Organizations (NGO’s), government ministries or registered agents, giving you the confidence to work with reputable organizations.
  • Comprehensive insurance is available for each of Internship placements.

Eligibility & skills
  • Applicants must:
    • Be citizens of and resident in the United Kingdom
    • Be aged between 20 and 35
    • Have sufficient funds for their maintenance during their initial period of stay in Canada
    • Have a good command of the English language, a sense of commitment and keen to gain practical work experience.
    • Be flexible and adhere to equal opportunities and health and safety policies.

    Participants must apply for a Young Workers Exchange programme visa and indicate their intended length of stay at the time of application for the programme. There is no charge for this Visa.

    If applying for the YWEP work permit, the applicant is required to attach the job offer from Canada (signed job offer on company letterhead). Please note the participant should stay in Canada according to the dates on his/her visa.

Contributions

Canadian internship programme for up to one years unpaid placement: £650

Host family accommodation single room full board (price per week): £125

Homestay booking free: £125

Youth hostel accommodation in multi rooms with breakfast: £18 per night

Airport Transfers one way: £52.00
