Internship in Australia
An Internship that offers you the opportunity to enhance your CV with international experience in an industry of your choice

Personalise your internship to meet your needs, whether it is a university requirement or a desire to experience another culture. Broaden your horizons or expand your career and lifestyle opportunities.

Location

Choose between two of Australia’s leading cities:

  • Sydney is Australia's oldest city with a great economy. Many consider it to be the nations capital in every aspect but name. It's blessed with sun-drenched natural attractions, dizzy skyscrapers, a range of restaurants, superb shopping and friendly folk. Sydney has a vibrant energy, and offers an invigorating blend of the old and the new, the raw and the refined. There are the traditional sites of the Sydney Opera house and the awe-inspiring harbour bridge or if you prefer to escape the hubbub, Manly Beach is only a short boat ride away.
  • Melbourne can be described as modern and authentic with its love for the high arts; Melbournians are equally passionate about football, fashion and restaurants. With its ravenous choice of music and theatre, Melbourne is a city that you'll want to sink your teeth into and enjoy its “on the go” attitude. A leafy bayside community on the 'upside-down' Yarra River, Melbourne is, by turns, cosmopolitan, suburban, cultivated, conservative and an avant-garde haven, matched only by its ever-changing weather.

Internships can potentially be arranged in other destinations, please contact us for more details.

The programme is very flexible and allows you to choose your:

  • Industry - select the industry in which you would like your internship to be. Your final placement will be dependent on your previous experience and motivational letter. ( Please note that requests for ‘specialist industries’ may incur an additional charge – you will be notified at the time of application if your request is regarded as ‘specialist’)

The Application Process
  1. Complete our online application form and submit your CV and covering letter. Your letter should clearly describe the type of internship you require.
  2. Approx 3 days later your application will be approved and you are required to pay the non-refundable deposit of £175. We will then start to match you to your perfect internship.
  3. Approx 8 weeks later you will be offered an internship with full details of your employer and the job description. Your internship will be offered based on the strength of your CV and cover letter – you will not be required to attend an interview in person, however a phone interview may be requested.
  4. After you have accepted your internship offer you are required to pay the final balance of your programme fee.
  5. The next step is to arrange your visa. There are 2 visas options available to you:
    • 416 Special Visa: This visa is sponsored by the internship facilitator. This restricts you to working only with the named employer for the pre-arranged duration. You can apply for this visa more than once. Twin and our Australian partners will apply for this visa on your behalf.
    • 417 Working Holiday Visa: This is a more flexible visa that allows you to enter Australia for up to one year and work with any employer for up to a maximum of 6 months. You can only apply for this visa once. You are responsible for applying and paying (approx £85) for this visa yourself. For further information and to apply for a WHV 417 visa online, please go to: http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-holiday/417/apply-online.htm (If you wish to do more than a 6-month internship on the 417 WHV, then you will actually do 2 separate internships with 2 separate employers).

Please note that Twin or its partners / affiliates are not responsible for declined or refused visa applications.

Accommodation and Food

Accommodation and food can be arranged for all participants. There are various options depending on the level of independence you require:

  • Living with a host family is a great way to truly understand the Australian way of life. Meals can be provided if requested.
  • Alternatively, you may choose to take a private room in a shared flat with other interns. This is a self-catering option with shared facilities.
  • For both options, the fee covers the initial accommodation arrangement and first month’s rent, after which rent is paid locally.
  • Alternatively, you can arrange your own accommodation.
Dates, Duration & Application Deadlines
  • The programme operates all year round so you can start your internship any time throughout the year.
